Dear Sir

I wondered if you might like a link to both my Foreign word site and my English word website or press release details of my ensuing book with Penguin Press on amusing and interesting English vocabulary?

www.thewonderofwhiffling.com

with best wishes

or wish to include:

1) THE MEANING OF TINGO
When photographers attempt to bring out our smiling faces by asking us
to "Say Cheese", many countries appear to follow suit with English
equivalents. In Spanish however they say patata (potato), in Argentinian Spanish whisky, in French steak frites, in Serbia ptica (bird) and in
Danish appelsin (orange). Do you know of any other varieties from around the world's languages? See more on www.themeaningoftingo.com

2) THE WONDER OF WHIFFLING

The Wonder of Whiffling is a tour of English around the globe (with fine
coinages from our English-speaking cousins across the pond, Down Under
and elsewhere).
Discover all sorts of words you’ve always wished existed but never knew,
such as fornale, to spend one’s money before it has been earned; cagg, a solemn vow or resolution not to get drunk for a certain time; and
petrichor, the pleasant smell that accompanies the first rain after a
dry spell.
Delving passionately into the English language, I also discover why it
is you wouldn’t want to have dinner with a vice admiral of the narrow
seas, why Jacobites toasted the little gentleman in black velvet, and
why a Nottingham Goodnight is better than one from anywhere else. See
more on www.thewonderofwhiffling.com

with best wishes

Yes! I am indeed Emerald. The blog has sadly fallen by the wayside in its humor. I'm so friggin busy right now that I want to bang my head against a door. Or a wall. Probably a pillow would be a smarter choice.

Do you have a pillow?

No? How about a wall?

Oh, hey! A post. Ummm... I helped my brother-in-law (still in high school) with a photography lesson a year or two ago. It was one of the most entertaining things I've done. We both re-opened our eyes and looked at the world with a fresh viewpoint (I was hoping that I'd discover $100 randomly laying about, but alas), and it was amazing the things that popped out us to take photos of. Very good assignment!

[...] Learning the Vocabulary of SEO By homeschool10x I’ve been working with a new colleague to teach him the language and methods and vocabulary of SEO. I’ve been playing with different educational methods. I created a course on how to blog for his benefit which taught him a new language and vocabulary. We’ve been doing a worked example in which we contrast todays vocabulary flash games with yesteryears vocabulary flash cards. [...]

"Video games are the single biggest success in education today." - I have to agree... Why fight the nature of a developing mind? Play to it's strengths! Play those learning games!

Very insightful. I think John Holt made the statement that imaginative play also produces an environment that allows children to fail, but not really, and learn and play with situations without pressure to perform.

However, I still believe that the video game business (which it is big business) is no better at teaching our children as the business of education (which is also big business). I let my kids play their hearts out, but I monitor the content and message of each game allowed in my home.

We watched TV and talked about it. Very unschoolingish of us. No seizing of moments for teaching...just hungout. Conversation level was high all morning. After the swearing it, we did lose the intensity and actually napped.

Nothing seems to be easier than seeing someone whom you can help but not helping.
I suggest we start giving it a try. Give love to the ones that need it.
God will appreciate it.
